We pick up with Player 456 and the gang densustoto in the immediate aftermath of the ill-fated season 2 rebellion. The revolt wiped out the majority of the X voters, leaving Team O virtually unopposed. It also left Seong Gi-hun more traumatized than ever, overflowing with guilt and self-loathing.
The surprise MVP of this season is Im Si-wan, who gives a visceral, intense performance as crypto YouTuber Myung-gi, a player who keeps his cards close to his chest in a way that reminded me of season 1 finalist Sang-woo. Roh Jae-won also comes into his own as a gleefully unhinged villain with Nam-gyu (not Nam-su, as Thanos disparagingly called him), while Lee David’s cowering Min-su also gets an intriguing plotline that allows him to move beyond the meek player he was before. Jo Yu-ri and Kang Ae-shim are also standouts as pregnant Jun-hee and doting mother Geum-ja, desperately portraying the absolute depth of hopelessness. And Bananza never stops pulling fresh ideas right off the vine over its 20+ hours. Without spoiling anything, I was stunned at the ingenuity on display as I dove to some of its deeper, late-game layers.

Fossils are used to buy region-specific outfits that add different perks to DK and Pauline – like increasing your chances of finding a treasure chest – and it’s also just fun to give them both a fresh look. You’ll also collect mountains of gold, and while I was swimming in cash for the first several hours, I eventually had to pay for some optional content that ran my wallet dry. Trust me when I say collecting as much gold as you can will be worth it in the end. Each team’s handcrafted playbooks lean into the concept of real-life tendencies. I’ve only used three teams so far, but I can see the difference in playbooks. While I see the larger playbooks, I’ll say this is one of the features that was a bit oversold.
Lost In Random: The Eternal Die Review: Dice, Strategy And Repetition
I won’t discuss it in detail, since that would be a huge spoiler. But I will say that what happens left me truly distraught – real tears were shed, for quite some time – but the way it all plays out feels like classic Squid Game. Remember the way Marbles made you feel like you’d been stabbed in the heart? The way the season addresses the show’s central questions about humanity and society under capitalism is also deeply moving, and very much open for interpretation. All I’ll say is, amid so much horror, there is still hope to be found.

Bananza is a constant crescendo across its 20-hour campaign that hits its pinnacle with an unforgettable finale that cements this as one of the best 3D platformers I’ve ever played. The story can be inscrutable with its endless wave of proper nouns and forced references (there are a series of mech bosses dubbed G.HOSTs and enemies that call back to Splatterhouse, of all things), but that’s by design. Despite being in a genre that’s worlds apart from the original Pac-Man, the adventure is squarely focused on turning that game’s central maze into something bigger. It isn’t just represented as a tangle of 2D corridors loaded with both secret passageways and dead ends.
